Many of the old and established trees from some 220 that line the banks of the Landwehr Canal in Berlin were due to be felled. I climbed an old lime tree and was there for many hours. The other trees around me were also occupied. Our peaceful protest was successful and the authorities withdrew. Our trees live on.
